What To Expect Next

Commenting on his appointment, EGF Chair John Arvanitakis said, “I feel both honoured and excited to take on a third term as Chair, and to build on the progress we have made as an organisation. I am grateful for the support of this committee and their shared commitment to advancing sustainability across the events industry.”

He added, “It is particularly encouraging to see a balance of new and returning members. This gives us the benefit of fresh ideas and perspectives, grounded in continuity and experience.”

Looking ahead, the EGF will continue to focus on strengthening sustainability standards across the sector. Key priorities for the term include driving the adoption of eco-procurement practices and partnerships, supported by the Green Database (greendatabase.co.za), as well as expanding the uptake of EGF Certification for green events.

The organisation will also continue its work in addressing greenwashing and supporting education and capacity-building across the MICE industry through its growing membership community.

“The depth of expertise within this management committee positions us well to accelerate meaningful progress in the months ahead,” said Arvanitakis.

He concluded by acknowledging the contribution of outgoing members: “We extend our sincere thanks to our outgoing committee members for their dedication and the important role they have played in shaping the EGF to where it is today.”
