2019 Conference & Master Class

The dates and venue for the seventh Event Greening Forum Master Class and Conference have been announced:

.

Master Class: Wednesday 10 July 2019, 12:00 – 17:00
Conference: Thursday 11 July 2019, 08:00 – 17:00
Venue: Hominin House, Maropeng, Cradle of Mankind
Hashtag: #EGF2019

.

The theme is “Imagining a Different Future“, which could not come at a better time, as the 7.7 billion people on our planet begin to accept that climate change is a reality. However, climate change does not mean our fate will be a dystopian disaster. Instead, we can take action and steer our future in a brighter direction. These two events are a unique opportunity for the events industry to come together and start imagining what that future can, and should, look like. Be a part of the solution, and in the process ensure you have the skills to succeed in this new economy.
.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Both of these events are suited to people who work in the following industries: Event Suppliers & Services; Venues; Event & Exhibition Organisers; Transport; AV & Production; Marketing & Communications; Food & Beverage; Marketing; Procurement & Event Managers in the Corporate, Association & Public sectors; and Convention Bureaus.

Master Class - 10 July // Maropeng

.

This year’s Master Class will be run by Lorraine Jenks, the founder of HotelStuff/GreenStuff. It is titled: “Climate change – a tale of two futures“.
She says; “With incidences of extreme weather making headline news, it is clear that climate change is here. We are not ready. The impact on all aspects of our lifestyles, tourism, hospitality and the events industry in Africa will be, and already is, profound.
“Based on research in Africa, I will share actual climate disruptions experienced by people on the ground and offer solutions, preparedness, special training, adaptions and some of their tips for all aspects of the events industry. My presentation has no bewildering graphs and statistics but rather facts, solutions, advice and practical tips – factors attendees may not even have thought of – gleaned from those who have already been there.”
Lorraine’s workshop will cover:
  • Briefly, the causes of climate change
  • Mitigation – what should and can be done
  • Current and anticipated impacts and disruptions – specifically considering impacts on transport, properties, venues, operations, products and food
  • Planning and adapting – based on research in Africa
  • Helpful resources
  • Summary review of the topics as they apply to: (1) planning the event, (2) during the event, and (3) post event
.
